Rudy
Estrellado is a retired Major General of the Armed
Forces of the Philippines who served a total of 38 years, 2 months
and fifteen days. When Rudy retired as Superintendent
of the Philippine
Military Academy, he was hired as President and CEO of Air
Philippines, a new commercial airline.
His management skill and technical knowledge made a turnaround of
the airline to modest profitability in the span of one year. He has
since left the company and joined the failed attempt of a Cavalier
to run for the highest office of the land. He has no definite plans
for the near future except to discover the beauty and utility of cyberspace,
and become a good Rotarian. The Rotary motto of "Service above
Self" is deeply enshrined in the heart of Rudy which got him
elected to the position of District Governor, Rotary International
District 3810 for RY 2001-02.
Rudy was born on June 15, 1940 in Luisiana, Laguna, Philippines.
His colorful military career started as a cadet at the Philippine
Military Academy where he graduated with the Illustrious Class of
1962. He has a Masters Degree in Business Management from the Asian
Institute of Management (AIM) which he obtained in 1972. He took his
GSC at the Command and General Staff School in 1983 where he graduated
with honors. He completed in 1991 the Senior International Defense
Management Course at DRMI in Monterey, California. A well schooled
officer, he completed various military courses both local and abroad.
He took several courses that have enriched his professional knowledge.
He was a combat pilot with more than 5,000 flying hours to his credit.
He also checked-out and became the leader of the Tora-Tora Aerial
Demonstration Team of the Philippine Air Force. As Wing Commander,
he led 15th Strike Wing to garner all the Top Awards from the PAF,
the AFP and the Office of the President.
Among his many achievements were the ushering of PMA into the information
age with the total computerization of the Command, the improvement
of the cadet's curriculum, and the physical changes that took place
in three years at Fort
Del Pilar. His feat at the Academy serves as a lesson on leadership.
As a Rotarian, he was cited as an outstanding baby Rotarian in 1982,
distinguished caring president in 1998, outstanding District Service
Awardee for four consecutive Rotary years. He was elected governor
of District 3810 and chaired the Council of Philippine Rotary Governors
in RY 2001-02. He was recipient of the Rotary’s
Global Quest Award and the Outstanding Leadership Trophy as
Distinguished Governor at the RI Barcelona Convention in June,
2002. At the 6th Annual Best of the Rotary Web worldwide competition,

successful 3rd Philippine Conference of Rotary Concerns held at
Shangri-la Hotel on Jan. 30, 2004. He has recently been the RI
