Town Fiesta

On October 9, 2005, Luisiana celebrated its 151st year honoring its patron saint Nuestra Senora del Rosario (Our Lady of the Rosary). The children and spouses of the late Jesus and Teofila Estrellado served as the Hermanos and Hermanas for this year's town fiesta. Procession of the Virgin Mary was held on Oct. 7, 2005. Town Center

The town center has an approximate three-hectare well laid plaza. Half of it has three fountains with the monument of Dr. Jose P. Rizal at the center while the other half has the glorieta, a basketball court and convertible tennis court. The plaza is surrounded by the municipal hall, Catholic and Aglipayan churches, and several commercial establishments. (more...)

Do you know your Family Tree ?

In the early days many Filipinos did not have family names. The Colonial Spanish government in their desire to increase collection of taxes, decreed in the year 1850 to issue family names, and where families have surnames already, they were changed. Most family names of our forefathers were changed. Bernardo was changed to Estrellado, Alcantara to Roasa, and Mariano to Esperanza and so forth. (more...)

  History

Luisiana was once part of a place called Terreno de Nasunog, which was divided into three areas, where each area became a part of the adjacent towns. The three parts were: Nasunog de Lucban, Nasunog de Cavinti and Nasunog de Majayjay. All three areas became the town of Luisiana after a difficult and long fight by our forefathers. In 1825, Don Luis Bernardo, one of Nasunog de Majayjay's recognized leaders, initiated a move to establish it as a town and a parish separate and independent from Majayjay, Laguna. (more...)

   
  Where is Luisiana?

Luisiana is a town in the province of Laguna, Philippines. The distance from Manila is about 108 kilometers. It is 24 kilometers away from the provincial capital of Sta. Cruz. The town of Luisiana is bounded on the north by Pagsanjan and Cavinti, on the west by Magdalena, on the south by Majayjay and on the east by Lucban, Sampaloc and Mauban of the province of Quezon.
